RE: 2001 Crown Vic

Well after about 6-7 months I have finally gotten the vic back up and running. here is the fun...

So driving down the interstate this spring cruising at 70mph and all the sudden no noises no warnings no lights she just looses all power. I limp her to the next exit and she is missing extrememly bad. Had car towed to my buddies shop to sit while I gathered parts around to replace the motor since we did find out that it lost all compression on the pass side bank.

First got a replacement motor out of a 2003 F-150 with 60k on it to replace the worn out and broken 160kmi+ motor in the car.

cleaned the short block of all rust and painted Ford Blue (sorry no pic of that part).

Pulled the old and busted motor out to make room for the new hotness..

After we pulled the old and busted motor we popped the pass side valve cover off to see if the cause was obvious (can you see)

So then we pulled the pass side head off the old and busted (needed the head alignment pins anyway cause I was short 2). You can somewhat see in the bellow pic that when you break a timing chain you bend every single valve in the head.

Here is a pic of one of the pistons in the old and busted motor. You can see where the valves hit the piston at the 5 O'clock and 7 O'clock posion right on the edge of the depression for the dish and every piston looked the same.

Here is teh new motor put together and ready to drop in with a few minor upgrades..

Now as it sits here are the new specs (waiting on avail dyno time to re-tune and see the new numbers).

60k 4.6L 2v
P&P Windsor heads with upgraded springs, oversized SS valves, bronze guides.
HiTech Stage II cams
Steeda UD pullies
Steeda Intake spacer
Typhoon intake
BBK 75mm TB
P&P upper plenum
04 PI zip tube
Marauder 80mm MAF and airbox
180* t-stat
22c plugs
BBK aluminum valve covers with pass side oil fill
TCS 10" 3800 stall converter
J-MOD trans
custom 2.5" mandrel exhaust with single high-flow spun cats, x-pipe, Magnaflow muffers, Marauder style tips
3:73 rear gears with trac-loc and carbon clutches

Think that is about it.
