LT headers

Hey Injected

I have been looking at some LTs for the mustang to be put on this summer. Ive liked all the things ive heard about Kooks but they are alot more expensive then other LTs. Ive seen you guys have installed a few of their LTs.

-Are they worth the extra money, Im seeing 1,441.00 for the LTs and catted X with the O2 extension included. Are there any cheaper headers that are still a good reliable product?
-Ive heard roughly 15-20 rwhp gained, so that should still keep me within the safe range on the internals. What have you guys seen with these LTs, similar numbers?
-How screwed would I be with emissions, I hear people can get away with them?
-Lastly what do you think it would all come out to with parts, labor, retune?

Thanks alot guys hopefully I can have this done and ready to go before summer leave. I'll have to do the test drive at 5 am and wake the neighborhood, cant imagine how loud itll be. Probably still softer then that six banger in the rossion.

You guys are the best

Anderson

RE: LT headers

Ryan will go over the cost with you, but I can handle the rest. American Racing Headers, Kooks, Pypes, Stainless Works all offer very nice products and all make around the same power. If it was my car the Stainless works Headers would be on that car already. With the cat'ed X-Pipe you will be good on the emissions.

I would go with Pypes (stainless steel) before Mac any day of the week. Let me know and I can get you some prices.

RE: LT headers

As far as product quality goes, how do you rate pypes in comparison to stainless works or Kooks, they are much cheaper.

Pypes are nice quality Stainless parts for the money but Stainless Works has much more R&D to test for actual performance. Pypes are more of a mass produced product (like BBK etc.). If cost was not an issue I would definitely recommend spending a little more money to get the Stainless Works.

RE: LT headers

I'm planning on going with the stainless works LTs with the Catted X pipe for $1,450. I will be back in Atlanta roughly from the 15th- 30th of April and wanted to have these installed on my GT. Also, would I want the 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" version? Ryan, if you could give me some prices for the install that would be great.
Real quick a few questions:

-Have you ever had these or similar LTs with the catted X installed with a Bassani muffler? Just wondering how itll sound.

-Stainless works website has these headers making 30 RWHP and torque over stock. I don't really believe those numbers are that high (hope I'm wrong), roughly what gains should I expect to see on my current set up?

Thanks,

Anderson Walls

You really only need the 1 5/8 unless you plan to make 800+rwhp in the future. This set up will sound great through your Bassani exhaust!! As far the power goes it is possible to make 30rwhp gains with long tubes on your car. However if we keep adding more power it is very important to consider a forged engine. I will forward an estimate to your dads email (I don't have your email yet). Just let me know when you're ready and I will order the parts.

Thanks for the quick reply! I hope to be able to add forged internals by the end of the year and really bump up the boost, but until then I dont plan on adding any HP gainers besides the LTs. If i remember correctly I dynoed 456 rwhp 436 torque on my current set up. Ive heard that the safe range on stock internals is 500 rwhp but that number could be wrong (you'd know better than me). So do you think my engine would still be safe at lets say... 486 rwhp 456 rwtq on my stock internals?
I know Im playing 20 questions, but heres my big question. What parts would be needed if I wanted to add forged internals and shoot for my goal of roughly 550-600 rwhp and roughly how much money is a build like that? I have a decent idea of all that would need to be done, but just want yours/ Aric's take on it. How doable would it be using my whipple? I know its not the most efficient at making big numbers.
Thanks for your time and look forward to having these LTs put in!
You can always email me instead of my dad at andywalls@mac.com

RE: LT headers

Not sure if this is the place to put this however.

Stainless works now offers LT headers for the 92-02 panther platform (Crown vic, Marquis, Town Car) and are in the process of prototyping for the 03+ panther platform (Crown Vic, Marquis, Town Car, Marauder).
