Its my understanding that the 6.1 in the JGCSRT8s have forged bottom ends but the ringlands are the weak point. Meaning the engine is a ticking timebomb on even 7 psi of boost or 150 shot or more of the juice. So does this mean you could just switch pistons, strenghten the top end and it would be like a forged motor capable of 800-900 hp at the crank reliably?

Yes we would like a quote for both sets, Eibach and H&R if I have to get Camper plates, I minus well go low ..maybe 1.6 and 2.0...I just want to go with the cheepest..please.
Looks makes all the differance in a good lowering combination, with tires....
I do have the 245/45 18 front and 275/40 18 rear....if that helps...

I purchased a SCT Flash Tuner from a well known Viper shop over a year ago. I was given unlimited free tunes, via e-mail, based on my mods. Making a short story even shorter, the tunes I tried were all worse than my baseline run. A few more tunes were e-mailed to me, which were also not very good(too lean). I realize that canned tunes that are based on XYZ mods will never substitute a tune performed in person while on a dyno, but I didn't realize the tunes I received would be that bad. The story gets better. The shop I used had me download my stock tune and then sent it to SCT, who told them my stock tune had been modified. They explained that's why I was losing power, because more parameters could be changed by altering my pcm. This is all Greek to me, as I have no tuning experience whatsoever.

I'm posting 2 graphs below. The first graph is right after I bought my car (97 Viper GTS) and was in 2006. The second is an overlay of three runs on the same day in 2008. The difference between the runs were the tunes. Run 003 was the SCT 93 octane tune. Run 005 was the SCT 91 octane tune. Run 006 was the stock tune, or at least the tune without the SCT program.

Here's my question. Would it be worth a second opinion, or at least getting my car on the dyno and tuning it from there? I think it's possible my car's pcm has not been altered and that it's maybe an excuse as to why they can't get the tune right. Who knows?

Thanks!
I was wondering do you guys send baseline tunes through email for startup and break-in before getting the car on the dyno on a new motor? My current tune is an sct tune for 42lb injectors and a 90mm lightning maf, and procharger on a stock pi head swapped npi shortblock. I highly doubt that tune would work for a startup/break-in tune on the new combo. Also which maf would you reccomend I go with on a blow through setup if you guys tune my car for me? Thanks, Chris.

I have been looking at some LTs for the mustang to be put on this summer. Ive liked all the things ive heard about Kooks but they are alot more expensive then other LTs. Ive seen you guys have installed a few of their LTs.

-Are they worth the extra money, Im seeing 1,441.00 for the LTs and catted X with the O2 extension included. Are there any cheaper headers that are still a good reliable product?
-Ive heard roughly 15-20 rwhp gained, so that should still keep me within the safe range on the internals. What have you guys seen with these LTs, similar numbers?
-How screwed would I be with emissions, I hear people can get away with them?
-Lastly what do you think it would all come out to with parts, labor, retune?

Thanks alot guys hopefully I can have this done and ready to go before summer leave. I'll have to do the test drive at 5 am and wake the neighborhood, cant imagine how loud itll be. Probably still softer then that six banger in the rossion.

You guys are the best

Hey guys, just heard about you from a fellow Southern Mustangs member who was recommending your shop and work. I have a question about one of my cars. I have a 2000 R, that I want to install the offroad exhaust to make it sound better as well as free up a few horsepower. My friends who have done this mod to their R's had to get a chip or re-tune it due that the car will backfire on de-acceleration. How would you go about doing this for me and what would it approximately cost. How long would it take? I guess if this was to be performed by you, I would ship the exhaust to your shop and then drive the car down and let you do the entire installation. Please send me a private message with approx cost and time to do the entire job. Thanks. I noted that you guarantee your work, and that is definately something that caught my eye.
thanks

I have an 07 427r roush that has had substantial mods. for now I'll only list the mods to the engine as that's the only thing I'm having problems with. we built the engine to a 298 ci stroker with livernois stage 2 heads, all forged internals, roush tvs blower running about 16 lbs boost, 52 lb injectors, twin gt500 fuel pumps, comp cams stage 2 blower grind with cam timing locked in full advanced, and inch and three quarter headers. the car put 618 hp and 608 tq to the wheels, so I'm happy with the power, but it has driveability issues that I need help with. the shop that did the work for me has tried tunes with diablo, sct, and hp tuners and still can't get it right. it seems to do best on hp tuners. the main problem is hunting for idle when I push the clutch in and come to a stop, or if I'm just sitting idling and rev the motor it will make it hunt (surge) for 3 or 4 times and then will idle nicely. this makes it hard to take off smoothly too because of the engine surging when I try to give it a little gas to take off. the other thing it's doing is when I shift gears the rpm's sometimes (depending on how hard I take off) do not want to fall back as quickly as they should. that makes it hard to shift smoothly because I never know when the rpm's will fall right and when they won't. the tuner at the shop says it is just hard to get everything just right on a car this modified with the big cams. do you have any ideas?

I own a 98 Cobra and recently encountered a blown head gasket. Actually talked to someone at Injected about taking care of it.
But I instead of just replacing the head gasket we ended up going with:
http://modularmustangracing.com.tempwebs...=431&cid=1
MMR's 850 stroker.

The last tune my car had was done elsewhere and I felt as if regardless of what I asked it was going to be a VERY safe tune. So I'd like to try here and see if perhaps we can live on the edge a little.

Right now I've got a T-trim with a Paxton air to air intercooler and a 3.3 pulley.

Fuel system consists of an aviator fuel pump and 42 lbs injectors w/ aeromotive regulator.

Ported upper and lower
Ported stock throttle body
4 in power pipe
KB Boost-a-spark
SCT 4 bank chip
BBK longtubes
BBK Catted H Pipe

I'd like to get the most out of this combination as possible, but not against upgrading my fuel system.
I'm going to be taking my heads to Proline shortly to get them checked out and most likely will have some work done to them while they're there.

I'm just curious what size pulley I should be going with. Also, what fuel system upgrades I should be looking into to get the most out of this combination.
I'll be retaining the stock 98 cobra cams for now as well.

The motor should be here within 3-4 weeks. Then as soon as its assembled I'll be having it towed to get it tuned. I would just like to get everything in order prior.

Thanks

BTW, previous tune netted 464HP and 396TQ on around 8-9 PSI

First of all, are they adding Ethanol to the pump gas up in Georgia? Down here in Florida, all of the generic stations (like 7-11) and most of the major oil company stations are adding 10% Ethanol to the pump gas.

Of course, they are nice enough not to change the price of the gas, at least not significantly, that I can see. Florida is way more expensive than Georgia and the rest of the South, and has been for years, so I can't really compare FL to GA prices, but now we are only getting 90% gasoline for what seems to be 100% of the price.... if it's lower, it's only a few cents, and you'd think if the addition of Ethanol lowered price, they'd be pushing that as a selling point. BP actually says they've added "Invigorate" to the gas, like it's a performance enhancing additive.

Does the Ethanol in the gas affect the tune at all?

I haven't really noticed that the vette runs any different than it did before, but the vette is set up with some kind of sensor that pulls spark if you get a hold of lower than 93 octane fuel - it's in the factory tune, so I wouldn't get any pinging, but performance would be affected - however since I'm not racing the vette, or really running her hard anywhere, I can't really tell a difference in performance. I can't really tell with the Harley, either - maybe a little more popping on deceleration, but I've got aftermarket pipes.

I would think that mileage would be affected, no???

I remember back in the day - late 70s, early 80's - I was living in Arizona, and a few stations started putting ethanol in the gas. It wreeked havoc on my 260Z. Some of the fuel fittings and hoses sprung leaks. Apparently whatever they were made of at the time - neoprene or whatever, or maybe the sealer they used dissolved in alcohol. Has anyone heard of any of these kinds of issues in today's cars using ethanol??

I try to avoid stations that have the ethanol, but it's getting harder and harder to do.

Hey guys I'm trying to point a friend in the right direction. He has been experiencing a 1200 RPM hesitation and the dealer has been unable to resolve it. Since the truck is drive by wire I'm assuming a tune might help with this throttle response issue plus he would like to know if there is any room to improve mileage with tune. I've been out of the loop for a while, JW did my last tune 4 years ago so I haven't kept up with current SCT tech or costs. Can you enlighten me so I can point him in the right direction? He has also been experiencing a vibration between 45-55 that goes away after acelerating through it. It reminds me of driveshaft whip but I don't know if the F150's are prone to that or not. ANy info you guys can provide would be apreciated
